Art in other cities

You know Banksy Right? Well check out this large mural that went up in NY Pretty great huh? Or maybe you're thinking it's not your bag. Which it might not be. He's an aquired taste to be sure. But I have to give NY props for letting this happen. And happen so quickly. That's one thing I hate about DC- it takes 14 people to agree on anything before something even becomes a thought.
Good for you NY! This is why you continue to school the rest on the country on why artists flock to you.

was it city sanctioned commission or was it private?

if its private, that could happen in a day. if it was city, what is the protocol in NYC to expedite that?

even if it's on a private residence, you still need to have permits. and your neighbors have to say it's ok.

I'm not sure if it would have to go in front of the commission of fine arts if it was private or not. anything that we do that is in the public eye needs to be finally approved by the CFA.

ok, i take that back. you need permits for scaffolding, but if you are paying for the mural yourself, you don't need permits.

if you're doing something free standing in public space however, you will need to have final approval by the CFA
