come one, come all....or hopefully at least a few...

What to do with the sweater

Aunt Hilda gave you last year?

free event

Baltimore, MD (Sept. 30, 2007)— Earth Alley, a new store in the heart of Hampden, is hosting this fun, holiday workshop on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Located at 3602 Elm Avenue, Earth Alley is one door up from the “Ave”.

Earth Alley is gearing up for holiday merriment. Come join Beth Baldwin to learn how to make colorful, felt ornaments for the holidays. Open to adults and children 10 and older. You will walk away with a one-of-kind creation that you can send back to Aunt Hilda.

Beth Baldwin is an artist living and working in DC. She has been a props artisan for the Shakespeare theatre for over 9 years and recently entered the world of Public Art. When not fitting art into government buildings, she is slowly building an army of felt dolls called "Baddies" to do her bidding.

You must bring your own felt, sewing needles and thread. This is a free event; however, space is limited - please rsvp by calling 410-366-2110.

September store hours are: Wednesday 5-8, Thursdays 4 – 7 p.m., Fridays & Saturdays 12:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sundays 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. More holiday hours to come!

31 hours in NYC

i'm taking a 2am bus to NYC's chinatown tonight...er, tomorrow morning...in 14 hours anyway.
i'm going with a friend because she wants to see some play that i think sounds kinda dreadful, but more importantly, i want to see this:
Richard Prince exhibit at the Guggenheim
i hope that this time, there isn't a chatty GW student on the bus chattering at 4:30 am.
i am rather fond of the wee hours of the night chinatown bus- you get on, go back to sleep, and wake up in NYC in time for breakfast. it's kind of delightful.

i'm wondering if in the serendipidious tradition of me traveling, they will be showing one of the ocean 11/12/13 movies. i am not kidding when i say one of those is playing whenever i travel, no matter the mode of transportation or the destination.

On December 1, i'm going to show you some ideas with what to do with the ugly sweater your Aunt Hilda (or Barb, or Heloise) gave you last Christmas at Earth Alley in Baltimore. From 2-3. The workshop is free free free but if you want to bring materials, that's probably a good idea.

Also, I'll be at the Ballston Square Art market this Saturday [Thanks Tracy!!!] the 13th (oooooh spooky) in Ballston Virginia with two my my fellow Mutineers- Joy and Tina, so come on by. There might be a bloggy-incentive to come later in the week (like tomorrow) so we'll see if anyone actually reads this.

And finally- an update to my etsy shop. I kind of like the fact that no two Fun Gus' are alike. I mean, intentionally that is.

wiped out!

I think between my incredibly long sunday and having a guest for the last 4 days, I'm wiped out.

This weekend I'm going to update my etsy shop with the stuff that didn't sell at crafty bastards, so if you're looking for a stuffed peice of fungus or a robot notebook, you're in luck,
